Instructions for Presentation
PDC 2014 FULL-PAPER PRESENTATION SESSIONS
GUIDELINES FOR PRESENTING AUTHORS & SESSION CHAIRS:
The format of full-paper presentations and sessions has been carefully considered for the coming PDC14 conference, and as presenting author(s) or session chair, please follow these guidelines when preparing for and chairing during full-paper session:
- Full paper session is 1.5 hour for 3 papers or 2 hours for 4 papers
- Length of presentation: max 20 min for each research paper
- Clarification question: 5 min and max two questions after each presentation .
- Cross paper discussion: 15-20min at the end for all paper presentations
- Session chair will have a dominant / coordination role with all authors of the session beforehand and expect to read all papers and prepare questions to start the discussion..
For your information and need your participation: additional interventions for off-session discussion:
1. Google Moderator: during a full-paper session, allowing members of the audience through their individual online devices to make comments and pose questions during presentations and discussions. These will then be updated continually and visible to everyone on an additional display in the lecture hall.
2. Questions board: At the end of each session, additionally there will be a board by the door, on which it is possible for members of the audience to leave notes with additional questions, comments, expressions of interest, suggested related works, etc. for each author. The session chair will encourage the audience to do so. The author can also bring this to the break area to continue discussions or bring this home as one pleases.
3. Landscape of Emerging Topics or Ideas wall: In the main break area, throughout the whole conference, this year we will experiment with a collective installation.As a part of the closure of your session, collaboratively you are expected to add 1-2 shared core topics/insights from your session to the landscape/wall. This is a shared responsibility between the session chair and the presenting authors possibly in collaboration with the audience.

PDC 2014 SHORT-PAPER PRESENTATION SESSIONS
GUIDELINES FOR PRESENTING AUTHORS & SESSION CHAIRS:
The format of short-paper presentations and sessions has been carefully considered for the coming PDC’14 conference, and as presenting author(s) or session chair,
please follow these guidelines when preparing for and chairing during short-paper session:
- Short paper session is 1.5 hour for 4 papers (some of them might be 3 papers only)
- Presentation format: "Pecha-kucha" style, 20 slides á 25 seconds. Our aim is for authors to quickly get to the key content and point(s) of the paper and leave good time for discussions on individual and across papers.
- Paper pairing: for four-paper session, the session chair will organize beforehand so presenters are paired and there will be time for questions and discussion after each two presentations.
- Cross paper discussion: 25 min after a pair of presentations
- Session chair will have a dominant / coordination role with all authors of the session beforehand and expect to read all papers and prepare questions to start the discussion.
